The choice of wetsuit for diving in the Red Sea varies depending on the season, as water temperatures change throughout the year. Here's what we recommend at Dive In Sharm El Sheikh:
Winter (December – February)
– *Water temperature*: 22-23°C
– *Recommended wetsuit*: 5-7mm wetsuit or semi-dry. If you are particularly sensitive to the cold, you may also want to consider a drysuit. The use of a hood is recommended.
Spring (March – May)
– *Water temperature*: 23-25°C
– *Recommended wetsuit*: 5mm wetsuit. A 3mm wetsuit may be sufficient for divers who tolerate cold well. In any case, if you are on a cruise or do repetitive diving, the 5mm is recommended.
Summer (June – August)
– *Water temperature*: 26-30°C
– *Recommended wetsuit*: 3mm wetsuit or 3mm shorty. Some divers may prefer a 1-2mm Lycra or wetsuit.
Autumn (September – November)
– *Water temperature*: 25-27°C
– *Recommended wetsuit*: 3-5 mm wetsuit, depending on cold tolerance.

Additional Considerations:
– *Thermal protection*: Even in warmer water temperatures, a wetsuit offers protection against abrasion.
– *Layering*: When in doubt, additional layers such as a neoprene vest can be used to increase thermal protection.
Tailoring your wetsuit choice to your personal preferences and dive duration can greatly improve your comfort when diving in the Red Sea.
