Ras Umm Sid is the name of the promontory that marks the beginning of the Strait of Tiran. The underwater site that bears the same name is located east of the lighthouse that surmounts this spit of land; it is easily accessible by land and is characterized by an extraordinary presence of sea fans which here, thanks to the continuous current from the north, have found the ideal habitat to proliferate, forming a real forest, the most beautiful in the entire northern Red Sea.

The classic route begins at a large porous coral inhabited by a colony of colorful ones Anthias, and first involves a descent to a depth of 20-25 meters to float through the splendid fans of the gorgonian forest.
