Thomas Reef it is the smallest of the four reefs of the Strait of Tiran, but one of the most spectacular dive sites in the entire northern Red Sea.
Due to the lack of anchoring points, this is a current dive and is reserved for the more experienced due to the possible presence of strong currents. The classic itinerary starts from the southern corner of the reef and includes the descent along the eastern wall, extremely colorful thanks to the presence of large Alcyonaceans, gorgonians, black corals and whip corals.
On the plateau located 35 meters deep, there is a very suggestive but also very deep canyon. Once you reach the eastern corner of the reef it is necessary to evaluate the current.
If this is not excessive, it is possible to go around the entire reef, first exploring the north wall, characterized by beautiful shelters and gullies, and then the west wall, rich in ravines and reef fauna.
