The fun part
The fun part of this course is everything! Because learning to dive is incredible. You’ll experience breathing underwater for the first time (something you’ll never forget) and learn everything you need to know to earn your certification. During the course, you’ll complete at least five pool dives and four open water dives in the Red Sea, all under the supervision of your PADI Dive In instructor.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is divided into three main phases:

✔ Knowledge development (online, self-study, or classroom), to understand the basic principles of diving.

✔ Confined water dives, to learn basic underwater skills.

✔ Open Water Dives, to review your skills and explore the underwater world!

If you have already tried diving with a Discover Scuba Diving experience or a resort course, the skills you have already learned can be credited towards one of the components of the full Open Water Diver certification course.

The scuba equipment you use
You’ll use all the basic scuba equipment, which is included in the course:

The mask, snorkel, and fins. You’ll also use a buoyancy control device to carry your tank, a regulator that provides you with air, a weight system, and instrumentation to monitor depth and air supply. Additionally, you’ll wear a wetsuit to protect you from the cold.

The educational materials you need
For the Open Water Diver course, PADI offers a variety of materials for self-study. While eLearning is the most convenient option, you can also choose the package with a book and DVD or the multimedia DVD-ROM.

✔ The PADI Open Water Diver course materials cover everything you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology, and safety procedures.
✔ For each concept, you will read the description and watch the demonstration in the video, in the classrooms of Dive In Dive Center; then, you will jump into the pool (or a similar environment) to practice these exercises with your Dive In Instructor.
✔ Finally, as a certified diver, you will use the course materials as a reference for your future scuba diving adventures and to review what you have learned.
