RED SEA – DEEP SOUTH AND ST. JOHN
RED SEA – DEEP SOUTH AND ST. JOHN
Departing from Marsa Alam and sailing southwards, you embark on one of the most captivating underwater itineraries in the entire Egyptian Red Sea.
A journey that unfolds south of the ancient Berenice, far away from the resorts and lights of the coast, taking you on a seven-day “immersion” into the unspoiled nature of exclusive reefs such as Saint John, Sha’ab Claudio, Sha’ab Melaya, and Sataya Reef, better known as Dolphin Reef.
7 days of underwater adventures suitable for all levels and catering to all tastes.
The Saint John area is characterized by the vibrant colors of soft corals (Alcyonacea) and gorgonians, as well as encounters with large pelagic species such as jack fishes, tuna, gray sharks, and hammerhead sharks.
Some dive sites are marked by the term habili, which in Arabic means submerged reef below the surface. Habili Ali, for example, is known for its black coral and the game of lights created by canyons that cut through the surface of the reef. Another example is Habili Gafar, named after the captain who first discovered it. It is considered one of the gems of the southern Red Sea due to its abundance of coral reef fish and pelagic species.
A PARADISE TO PHOTOGRAPH
Sha’ab Claudio, named after the naturalist photographer who first discovered this diving site, is a true paradise for photographers. With its caves and the captivating interplay of light that penetrates through the passages and crevices, photographers will capture breathtaking shots.
Sha’ab Melaya, a dive as fun as a game (which is the meaning of the word melaya in Arabic). In front of a natural scenery with intricate corridors decorated with hard corals, all you have to do is surrender, become a child again, and float through this intricate maze animated by glass fish, sparkling like jewels in the sun.
The theme of playfulness also characterizes Sataya Reef, also known as Dolphin Reef, because here, as the name suggests, dozens of dolphin families reside, the most playful creatures in the underwater universe.
Typically, we stop at this horseshoe-shaped reef during the return journey, and encountering these delightful mammals is the icing on the cake of emotions experienced throughout the week.
These are just some of the dive sites you will explore during the cruise. We look forward to showing you all the secrets of the Southern Red Sea.
