Dive at Thomas Reef (Tiran Strait)
Thomas Reef is the smallest of the four reefs in the Tiran Strait, but it is one of the most spectacular diving sites in the entire northern Red Sea.
Due to the lack of anchorage points, this is a drift dive and is reserved for experienced divers, mainly because of the potential presence of strong currents.
The classic itinerary starts from the southern corner of the reef and involves descending along the eastern wall, which is incredibly colorful due to the presence of large Alcyonarians, gorgonians, black corals, and whip corals.
On the plateau located at a depth of 35 meters, there is a very impressive but also very deep canyon. Upon reaching the eastern corner of the reef, it is necessary to assess the current.
If it is not too strong, it is possible to complete the entire circuit of the reef, exploring the northern wall first, characterized by beautiful shelters and canyons, and then the western wall, rich in caves and reef fauna.
